Jet Ski and Dance, Dance, Dance

Saturday was a pretty action packed day. For the first time I went Jet skiing with my bro Ed and some friends at ponce inlet. We had a blast! It definitely makes you want one of your own after having so much fun. One of our boys fell off his ski and it was hilarious! No matter what I just did not want to fall off, plus i can’t swim. Ha, Ha, Ha!

Later on I danced at the Salvation Army place across the street from my crib. My cousin, Lynn Thompson also preached. I mimed to “Order My Steps” and God did his thing. Once a month guys from all over come together for service at this place. We had a great time.

Right after that I had to rush over to the Hilton to join up with the crew to dance. We did “I want it all back” for a company banquet that was taking place there. It was cool for people to see that church can be fun and that you can praise God in many ways, one being through dance.

HYPE, you kids are great. I don’t know what I would do without ya! I thank God for opening doors for us!

Peace!

Boogie On Down 3: And the WINNER is…

Sabra Elise Johnson Takes it ALL!

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! I really felt like a female would win this year. Sabra is an excellent dancer and was consistent throughout the whole season. She stated she has only been dancing for 4 years but her performances is like she has been dancing for a lifetime.

Sabra is the bomb!

Well everyone, tonight we will find out what two next contestants will get voted off. This has been an awesome season so far! In the past, there has never been a female winner but I think the guys or in for it this season.

I think Sabra or Lacey have the best chances of winning this year. Danny on the other has been pretty consistent throughout the season, up until last week with his hip-hop routine. Hip-Hop dance is just not his style. Right now, it is kind of tough for me to narrow it down to one dancer I think will win. I am torn between Lacey and Sabra. They are both energetic, consistent, have incredible techniques and are overall amazing performers. They both really get into their characters. I guess we will just have to see what happens.

Peace!

Out Reach!

What an incredible day so far! Today the Shine Team and many other volunteers gathered together in the Calvary Gymnaisum. We were celebrating the Back to School Bash! Hundreds of kids were bused in from different neighborhoods. As they made their entrance into the gym, they were welcomed with cheers, screams, and excitement from the Shine Team and Leaders. This particular Outreach event gives kids the opportunity to come to know God if they don’t already have a relationship with Him. The event is full of Praise and Worship, Games, Dancing and just lots of fun with jesus. At the end of the service the kids are equipped with backpacks and supplies and most importantly, Jesus Christ. What an awesome way to start off the school year. This event gets Larger and Larger every year. God is so awesome!

Shout out to Pastor Jennifer and everyone who was involved!

Peace!

More than Just Noise

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if i have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13: 1-2

Today when I arrived home from dance rehearsal, I was just thinking about the how talented people are in the world. From athletes to artist, singers, actors and of course, the dance crew “HYPE” 🙂 There are so many talented people out there, but it is so much more to it than just being a gifted individual. It is important for us to be filled with the love of God. To walk with a pure heart and mind. We can possess so many talents and be so great at what we do, but without God’s love, we are nothing.

God I thank you for the talents you have blessed me with. I pray that your love will continue to grow stronger in all of your children’s lives so that we will be much more than just a clanging cymbal.

What the Heck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man..! My boy Hok was eliminated last night on “So You think You Can Dance”. The judges were pretty much giving him a hard time throughout the entire season but it was America that was keeping him alive on the show by votes.

Well now the show begins the competition with the “Top Ten” and the heat is on! The judges will still critique the performers but now America has full control over who stays.

Make sure you vote for your favorite next week!

Be Blessed!

Have Fun!

Smile!

Laugh!

Reach Out!

Spend time with Jesus!

Spend time with Family!

Spend time with Friends!

Another season of “So You Think You Can Dance” invades the homes of many across America. I think I would have to say this is my favorite show at the moment. This show is so awesome and gets me all hyped up! Amazing talent from all over audition for a spot each season. Some dancers are trained and others or not. This show stretches dancers in the area that you have to learn many different styles throughout the show. So if you are a born hip-hop dancer you may have to perform a jazz or contemporary piece… CRAZY!  It’s amazing to see how versatile the talents are that make it on the show.

The show was created by the former producers of American Idol. The judges are Mary Murphy, Nigel Lythgoe (whom personality echoes Simon from American Idol if not worse at times) and a special guest Judge. This week special guest judge is Wade Robson. He is the bomb choreographer! He has worked with artist such as: Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, N’SYNC, and Backstreet Boys. He was also the co-choreographer for the movie ” You Got Served”. The man has got mad talent.

Well unfortunately tonight two dancers will have to get eliminated…I’ll make sure to tune in.

MIME IS NOT A SILENT ART. IT IS THE ART OF TOUCHING PEOPLE        – Marcel Marceau

Miming is the ability to be able to control and deliver the non-verbal language of telling a story by using only your body and facial expressions. Modern European mime began in the early 1700’s. The best known European mime artist is the phenomenal Marcel Marceau. He has portrayed many different characters, but his most famous is called “Bip”.

Today, this form of drama has swept churches across the nation in an amazing way. Who would have ever thought that ministry, through this form of art, would be embraced. We are talking totally non-traditional here. And as history has shown, things that are non-traditional have mountains to climb, simply because breaking “tradition” takes people out of their comfort zones. I am so thankful to be a part of a church that tries not to keep God in a box. What the ministry of mime has done is expand the horizons of the means by which we spread the Gospel. God uses what He sees fit to make His presence known in the land. An integral part of that picture is now mime.  Mime ministries bring the lyrics of Gospel songs to life through creative depiction with the use of expressive choreographed movement and dramatic storylines.

This ministry is my heart. It’s life changing. Not only does it have an impact on the people God is using me to minister to but it is also inspiration to my own life. This is another way of how I express my love and passion for God. If you or someone you know would be interested in this form of ministry, I encourage you to get involved. It’s an incredible experience!
